Your dry-in inspection may apply to the roof, walls, or both. Follow the sections that apply to your project and make sure the important details are visible before they are covered.
Start with wide views so we understand the project, then move closer to seams, overlaps, openings, penetrations, flashing and transitions.
Some projects require roof dry-in, some require wall dry-in, and some require both. Do not cover the areas being inspected until your inspector has had an opportunity to review them.
Whenever an overlap, spacing or other dimension needs to be verified, take a clear photo with the measuring tape visible next to the area.
Start with a slow walkthrough showing all areas included in this inspection.
Show whichever applies:
If your project uses housewrap, WRB, membrane or a similar wall barrier, show the complete installation before it is covered.
Make sure we can see:
If an overlap dimension needs to be verified, include a clear photo with a measuring tape across the overlap.
If your approved wall system does not require separate housewrap, show the complete integrated sheathing system and its seam treatment.
Make sure we can see:
Show wide views first, then close-ups so the inspector can confirm the seams and joints are properly taped or sealed.
Show the flashing and weather protection around all openings before it is covered.
For windows, make sure we can see:
Take one wider photo of the complete opening and clear close-ups of the sill and both bottom corners.
If a flashing dimension or overlap needs to be verified, include a photo with a measuring tape visible.
Show areas where pipes, ducts, conduits or other items pass through the wall barrier.
Make sure we can see:
Show the underlayment across all roof areas included in the inspection.
Make sure we can see:
Take clear close-up photos of representative underlayment laps and overlaps.
If an overlap dimension needs to be verified, place a measuring tape across the lap and take a clear photo.
Show representative areas including:
Get close enough for the inspector to clearly see how these critical areas are dried-in.
Make sure we can see:
Show every penetration and how the dry-in system is sealed or flashed around it.
This may include:
Show the full penetration first, then take close-ups of the flashing and sealing around it.
If any part of the wall or roof dry-in is different from the rest, make sure your inspector can see it clearly.
Take 30 seconds and make sure your inspector can clearly see every dry-in condition that applies to your project.
Submit your photos, videos and measurement photos through Permit Rockstar. Your inspector will compare the dry-in installation with the approved plans and applicable project requirements.
