Slab Inspection Guide

Here's what we need for your slab inspection. Follow these 7 simple steps and make sure everything is still exposed.

7 simple things we need
Keep It Simple

Here's What We Need.

Clear photos and slow videos are best. Make sure measurements are easy to read and documents are clear.

1
Photo / Video

Show us the whole slab area.

Take a slow video showing the entire slab area from beginning to end.

Make sure we can see:

  • The full slab area
  • Edges and corners
  • Any thickened areas or changes
  • The surrounding work area
2
Photo / Video

Show us the slab preparation.

Give us clear photos or a slow video of the prepared area before concrete is placed.

Make sure we can see:

  • The prepared base
  • Vapor barrier, if installed
  • Seams and edges of the vapor barrier
  • Any areas that look different from the rest
3
Photo / Video

Show us the reinforcement.

Take clear photos or a slow video showing the slab reinforcement.

Make sure we can see:

  • Reinforcement throughout the slab
  • Supports or chairs, where applicable
  • Overlaps and connections
  • Additional reinforcement at openings or special areas
4
Measurement

Show us the slab dimensions.

Use a tape measure where needed and make sure we can clearly read the measurements.

Show any thickened areas, turned-down edges or other slab dimensions shown on your plans.

5
Photo / Video

Show us the pipes, conduits and openings.

Show anything coming through or located within the slab area before it gets covered.

Make sure we can see:

  • Plumbing penetrations
  • Electrical conduits, where applicable
  • Sleeves and openings
  • Other items that will be covered by concrete
6
Document

Include the termite treatment certificate.

If termite treatment is required for your project, include a clear copy of the treatment certificate with your inspection.

Make sure we can read:

  • Property or project information
  • Treatment information
  • Date of treatment
  • Applicator or company information
7
Photo / Video

Show us anything different.

If something is unusual or different from the rest of the slab, make sure we can see it clearly.

  • Steps or elevation changes
  • Thickened areas
  • Special reinforcement
  • Unusual penetrations or openings
  • Anything else you think the inspector should see

Before You Submit

Take 30 seconds and check your photos, videos and documents.

  • Can we clearly see the entire slab area?
  • Can we see the base and vapor barrier?
  • Can we clearly see the reinforcement?
  • Can we read any measurements you included?
  • Did you show the pipes, conduits and openings?
  • Did you include the termite treatment certificate, if required?
  • Is everything still exposed?
