Your inspector needs to see the rough electrical installation before walls, ceilings or other finishes cover the wiring, boxes, conduits, grounding and penetrations.
Start with a slow walkthrough so the inspector understands the layout, then get closer to panels, boxes, wiring, supports, grounding and penetrations.
Do not cover wiring, boxes, conduits, grounding connections, penetrations or other rough electrical work until the required inspection is complete.
Whenever support spacing, box location, clearances or another dimension needs to be verified, include a clear photo with the measuring tape visible.
Start with a slow walkthrough of all areas included in the inspection.
Make sure we can see:
Show the electrical panel, service equipment or other distribution equipment included in the rough inspection.
Make sure we can see:
Show electrical boxes throughout the project and enough surrounding framing so the inspector can identify where they are located.
This may include:
If a box height, offset or other location needs to be verified, include a measuring-tape photo.
Show how cables, conductors and conduits are routed and supported throughout representative areas of the project.
Make sure we can see:
If support spacing or another dimension needs to be verified, place a measuring tape next to the installation and take a clear photo.
Show the grounding and bonding components that are part of the rough installation and still visible.
This may include:
Show the overall connection first, then take close-ups of the actual grounding or bonding connection.
Show where wiring, cable or conduit passes through framing, concealed spaces or other building assemblies.
Make sure we can see:
Before walls and ceilings are closed, show electrical penetrations that require firestopping or fireblocking.
This may include:
Show the full penetration first, then take a close-up so the inspector can clearly see how the opening has been sealed or blocked.
If an electrical condition is different from the typical installation, make sure your inspector can see it clearly.
Take 30 seconds and make sure your inspector can clearly see the rough electrical installation before anything gets covered.
Submit your photos, videos and measurement photos through Permit Rockstar. Your inspector will compare the electrical rough installation with the approved plans and applicable project requirements.
